Challenge #7

723 Franklin St.  Approximate location...
Columbus City Hospital Site - Now CSA Lincoln

The site of the former sanitarium - how appropriate!
On the northwest corner of 12th and Washington streets

At the time the hospital was built, there were three private healthcare facilities in Columbus. The Columbus Surgical Hospital at 723 Franklin Street, established by Dr. Adoniram J. Banker, the first general surgeon in Columbus; a sanitarium established by Francis Thomas Crump on the northwest corner of Twelfth and Washington streets, at the site of an artesian well of mineral waters; and the Columbus City Hospital at 722 Fifth Street, established by Dr. John Little Morris and directed by Dr. Alfred P. Roope after Dr. Morris’ untimely death.
